Create and edit a map feedback

The map feedback tool lets the community add feedback to a project by pinning their comments on specific locations on a map. This tool is great for encouraging communities to engage with a project. 

Engagement managers can use this geospatial data to identify trends and get deeper insights to inform decision-making. 

Add a Map Feedback Tool

To add a Map Feedback tool to your project:

  1. In the left-hand menu, click Projects.
  2. Click on a project to open it.
  3. In the project sub-menu, under Participation, click Map Feedback. This shows all the map feedback tools created for this project.
  4. Click on the + icon located on the right-hand side of the screen.
  5. Give the map feedback tool a Title. This will be publicly visible on your project page.
  6. Provide a brief Summary.
  7. Add Introduction text to give public users more information about the topic of the map feedback tool.
  8. Add a map from the right-hand side menu.
  9. Click Add input to select the type of information you'd like to gather.
  10. Set an End date to determine when this Map feedback will stop accepting new submissions.
  11. Decide if users need to log in to submit feedback by selecting Authenticated or Anyone in the Allowed submitter dropdown. 
  12. Decide whether feedback submissions need to be moderated or can be published automatically by selecting Requires approval or Published from the Submission moderation dropdown.
  13. When you’re finished, click Publish.

 

Edit a Map Feedback Tool

To edit a map feedback tool:

  1. In the left-hand menu, click Projects.
  2. Click on a project to open it.
  3. In the project sub-menu, under Participation, click Map Feedback. This shows all the map feedback tools created for this project.
  4. Scroll to the relevant map feedback tool, and click on the ellipsis on the right-hand side for more menu options.
  5. Click Edit.
  6. Alternatively, click on the map feedback tool you want to edit, then click the Edit tab.
  7. When you’re finished making your changes, click Publish.

 

Delete a Map Feedback Tool

You can delete a map feedback tool from a project if it’s no longer needed, or was created by mistake. This permanently removes the map feedback tool and all its content and cannot be undone. Proceed with caution!

Note: you may not have delete permissions as part of your role. If you have any questions about your permissions, contact your District Engage administrator.

To delete a map feedback tool:

  1. In the left-hand menu, click Projects.
  2. Click on a project to open it.
  3. In the project sub-menu, under Participation, click Map Feedback. This shows all the map feedback tools that already exist for this project.
  4. Scroll to the relevant map feedback tool, and click on the ellipsis on the right-hand side for more menu options.
  5. Click Delete.
  6. You’ll be prompted with a warning to confirm the action. Click Yes, Delete this map feedback.
  7. Your map feedback tool is now deleted.
