Create and edit project hotspots

A hotspot provides the opportunity to add additional information to an image, diagram or map via interactive spots that can be clicked to reveal extra content.

 

Create a new project hotspot

  1. In the left-hand menu bar, click Projects. This displays a list of all existing projects.
  2. Click on a Title to open a project.
  3. In the project sub-menu under Content, click Hotspots. This shows all the hotspots for this project.
  4. Click on the + icon located on the right hand side of the screen.
  5. Add a Title.
  6. To upload an image, click on the image box. Browse to select an image, and double click to upload it.
  7. Click Add hotspot. A hotspot point is an interactive, clickable spot on the image that reveals extra information, such as content and images.
    1. Click on the image to place your hotspot point. You can change its position by clicking on the image in a different spot.
    2. In the editing window, you can customise the Title, Image, Description, Color and Size.
  8. Once you've finished editing the hotspot point, click Add hotspot. You can repeat this process multiple times to create additional animated spots on the same image.
  9. Once you've finished editing, click Publish.

 

Display a hotspot on a project page

  1. In the left-hand menu bar, click Projects. This displays a list of all existing projects.
  2. Click on a Title to open a project.
  3. On the project page, click Edit.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page, and click Add block.
  5. From the dropdown, select Hotspots.
  6. An Add Hotspots block will appear.
  7. Enter a Title.
  8. To select what to display, you have the option to display all existing hotspots, or a custom selection.
  9. Tick the box Show title above each hotspot if you want the Title to display above each hotspot.
  10. Click Add Hotspots when you are ready.
  11. When you are finished editing, click Publish. The selected hotspots will now be displayed on your main project page.

Note: Only published hotspots will be publicly visible.

 

Edit a hotspot

  1. In the left-hand menu, click Projects. This displays a list of all existing projects.
  2. Click on a Title to open a project.
  3. In the project sub-menu, under Content, click Hotspots. This shows all the hotspots available for this project.
  4. Click on the hotspot you want to edit. Click the Edit tab**.**
  5. Make the required edits. Note: to change the base image, delete the exisiting image by clicking the X on the top right corner. Click on the Image box to browse and select a new image to upload.
  6. Once you've finished editing, click Publish.

 

Edit a hotspot point

  1. In the left-hand menu, click Projects. This displays a list of all existing projects.
  2. Click on a Title to open a project.
  3. In the project sub-menu, under Content, click Hotspots. This shows all the hotspots available for this project.
  4. Click on the hotspot you want to edit. Click the Edit tab**.**
  5. The hotspot points are listed on the right hand side of the screen. Select the point you want to edit.
  6. In the editing window, you can modify the Title, Image, Description, Color and Size. To reposition the hotspot point, click on the background image in the desired location.
  7. Click Done to save your changes.
  8. Click Publish.

 

Unpublish a hotspot

You can unpublish individual hotspots from a project without affecting other content. The hotspot will be automatically removed from anywhere it is currently displayed or linked to.

  1. In the left-hand menu, click Projects. This displays a list of all existing projects.
  2. Click on a Title to open a project.
  3. In the project sub-menu, under Content, click Hotspots. This shows all the hotspots available for this project.
  4. Click on the hotspot you want to unpublish. Click the Edit tab**.**
  5. At the top right of the screen are your Publish options. Choose Unpublished from the dropdown menu.
  6. Add a revision message to record why you are making the change.
  7. Click Confirm.

 

Delete a hotspot

  1. In the left-hand menu, click Projects. This displays a list of all existing projects.
  2. Click on a Title to open a project.
  3. In the project sub-menu, under Content, click Hotspots. This shows all the hotspots available for this project.
  4. Click on the ellipsis icon of the map you would like to delete.
  5. In the dropdown click Delete.
  6. A confirmation window will appear. To delete the hotspot, click Yes, Delete this hotspot.
  7. Your hotspot is now deleted.
